Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Middle/High School will begin mid-term examinations on January 19, 2012. Prior to the examinations, students will be spending a good deal of time preparing, reviewing and studying material that was covered during the first half of the school year. It is especially important at this time for our students to be present at school, on time and well rested to ensure they are at their best. Their performance on the examinations is very important and will count toward their overall grade for the year. Please assist us by emphasizing with your child the importance of proper study habits, proper rest, and nutrition.
The schedule for the four days of the examinations will be different than our regular school day, please review the schedule provided below. We will not be serving lunch during the exam days and high school students scheduled for a lunch during a particular testing period will be dismissed. Middle school students will not have to report to school for their period 8 mid-term until 10:15 on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.
In order to allow students enough time to complete each examination and to decrease the disruption to the testing process for others, it is imperative that students come to school on time. Any student who arrives 15 or more minutes late will not be allowed to take the examination for that period. Students who arrive less than 15 minutes late will be permitted to complete the examination but will not be afforded any extra time to do so. It is also worth noting that all students must take mid-term examinations, there are no exemptions.
Make-up examinations will take place in the afternoon from 12:30 to 2:34 p.m. each day. If a student misses an examination, it is the student’s responsibility to schedule a make-up as soon as possible with his or her teacher. He/She should see the teacher immediately upon return to school. If your child must be absent from school, please be certain to contact the school to inform us that morning. Students will be allowed to take a make-up examination if they have a legitimate absence. A legitimate absence would include an illness supported by a doctor’s note. An exam that is not made up will result in a failure.
Examination week can be somewhat anxiety provoking for students. It is our belief, however, that students who have focused their efforts, applied themselves during the year as well as during the days prior to the examination will excel. If you have any questions regarding the schedule or expectations for the week, please feel free to contact my office at 732-316-7669.
